Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] beloved_tree:

1) What year was it when you wrote/published your first fic?
I actually started writing fic back in elementary school, before I knew what fic was. So the answer is technically sometime in the late '80s. However, the first fics that I knew were fics were the Monkees stories I wrote and posted when MFFC went live in '99--the first installments of the Power Vikki Series, "Were You There?", "Consider Yourself," and a couple of others.

2) What fandom was your first fic in, and what was it titled?
Those really early fics were mostly Agatha Christie, although I know of a few other fandoms like Newsies that I ventured into at times. But my first real fic was "My Version of 'No Man's Land,'" a Monkees fic that kicked off the Power Vikki series.

3) In retrospect, would you recommend that anyone read it?
Yeah, but my style has definitely matured since then, and Vikki has become less of a potential 'Sue.

4) What fandoms have you written for, and how many fics have you written for each?
Hoo boy... counting WIPs and a couple of unpublished ones:
Monkees -- 9
LOTR -- 15
Silm -- 1
Circus Boy -- 1
A-Team -- 1
Gulliver's Travels -- 1
Hogan's Heroes -- 1
Narnia -- 1
Crossovers -- 13 (most are Monkees crossovers; crossed fandoms not previously mentioned: Greater Tuna, Newsies, Diagnosis Murder, Columbo, Wishbone, Star Trek: TNG, Inspector Gadget, The Dirty Dozen)
Filk -- 2

5) Do you have a favorite of your fics? Do you have a least-favorite?
Well, there are a lot that I like and plug frequently, but I think my best to date are "Were You There?" and "Candlelight, Angel Light, Firelight, and Starglow." Dunno if I have a least favorite... there are a few I'm not so happy with now, but none that I dislike enough to pull.

6) What fandom do you consider your main or “home” fandom?
Oh, brother. That's a really hard question. I cut my teeth on Monkeedom, but I haven't had any good Monkee fic ideas in a long time. LOTR has most of my attention lately, although I've gotten several of the Narnian equivalent of Nuzgul in the past month.

7) Ever had a fandom spoiled for you by an influx of new fans (i.e. The Lord of the Rings post-films?)?
Spoiled in what sense? The badficcers drive me batty in any fandom, especially LOTR and Narnia, but it's not to the point of driving me out of the fandom.

8) What is your least-favorite aspect of being involved with fanfiction (flamers, Mary-Sues, etc.?)
'Sues and the screaming Suvians who write them. Also flamers who a) would rather scream profanity than argue, b) couch concrit in terms so offensive as to completely defeat their purpose, or c) think they're giving concrit when they're just flat wrong.

9) What is your favorite aspect of being involved with fanfiction?
The tradition, the ability to hone my skills by working with someone else's materials, the potential to disguise scholarship as entertainment... I could go on for a long, long time.

10) Be honest: if fanfiction, like music file-sharing, were declared illegal and the major centers of it(i.e. fanfiction.net) policed/shut down, would you still write for the ‘underground’?
Are you kidding? My whole area of literary study is full of fanfic writers (though of course they weren't known as such). And fanfic has become a natural outlet for me. You bet your boots I'd keep writing it!
