So I fell down a rabbit hole this week upon discovery of Jackson Crawford's YouTube channel (I think you all know me well enough to see why just from this thumbnail), and today he posted this video about the sources and meanings of the Dwarvish names in The Hobbit:

Am really struggling with trying to pin down a title for my "Wraith in New York" POI/SGA crossover for the POI Big Bang. Opinions?

I just passed the thousand-kudos mark on AO3. :D It's the little things, y'know?

Probably won't be posting too awful much over here; this is mainly a backup in case something does happen to LJ. I have backed up my fic comm to [community profile] sarosefics and the Different Roads AU to [community profile] cazadoretx; most of my solo fics are already backed up to AO3, and I'll back up the rest... when I can. (Things are A Bit Hectic right now with RL writing commitments and health problems.)

I sincerely hope nothing does happen to LJ. But I do feel better knowing I have this lifeboat ready to jump to if I need it.

*waves to all and sundry, near and far (F. Christmas in particular)*

... and set up a backup journal on DW. Same nic there as here. Hoping we're not about to lose LJ for any length of time, but... better safe than sorry.

ETA: Also got [livejournal.com profile] sarosefics backed up over there; most, though not all, of those stories are crossposted to FF.n and AO3 as well, plus my fic website. [livejournal.com profile] cazadoretx failed to import, so I'll try again later--if push comes to shove, though, I have offline backups of all those stories.

ETA2: [livejournal.com profile] cazadoretx went through the second time I tried it, so that's sorted.

It has been A Year, but I still have so much to be thankful for. Hope y'all do, too. :) *hugs*

Have a save and sane Fourth, y'all!

(Also, just FYI, my latest Saint/Green Hornet story, "The Pen Is Mightier than the SWORD," is up here on AO3 and here on FF.n. I'll be posting the epilogue tomorrow and maybe get it posted to LJ as well.)

I have reluctantly signed up for AO3--not much posted over there yet, but apparently I hadn't orphaned my one story imported when HASA went under, as I'd feared I had. So that's a relief, and also that much less I have to do. :D Not sure how much I'll port over there or how quickly; I'll probably start with the Green Hornet and Saint fics and then decide, maybe work through the long list of series a bit at a time. (Stanford Adventure Club will take ages, I know that much.)

But the main reason is that today's the day I finally get to post Carbines and Capacitors, my giant POI/Cheyenne crossover for the POI Big Bang! \o/ *falls backward onto the couch* It's also here on LJ; I think my PDF is prettier than AO3's, but that's me. :D

Happy Veterans Day!

Secrets of the Saqqara Tomb premieres today on Netflix. I just watched it, and it is really cool if you're into archeology/Egyptology. The team is all Egyptian, so most of the conversation is in Arabic; I normally keep closed captions on anyway, but I assume there are subtitles even if you don't have CC on. Still, some wonderful discoveries and some neat reflections by the dig team. Check it out!

Puppy fic!

There's a comfort-focused comment-fic meme going on DW, and a couple of the prompts resulted in this slice of Tom and Bronco taking care of Cheyenne with some four-footed help: Happiness Is a Cold Nose

Remember, remember
Eleventh September,
Hatred and terrorist plot.
I see no reason
That terrible season
Should ever be forgot.

I will not hate. But I will not forget.

Finally finished my POI Big Bang this morning and submitted the rough draft to the mods--officially the second longest fic I've ever written solo. (Longest is still "Gilgamesh Wulfenbach and the Men of Letters.") Here's hoping I can actually focus on other things now that that's out of my system... and not fret too much over getting a good artist when claims open on 9/1.

Just sent the three-way crossover En and I had started for last year's [livejournal.com profile] spn_cinema off to the mods for this year's round. And I'm two chapters shy of finishing my POI/Cheyenne crossover for the POI Big Bang; that draft is due on the 15th, although it doesn't have to be finished (but I'm aiming to finish by then anyway). Hoping to work on original fic next, although I might have to dash off my next Saint/Green Hornet fic first to get my mental desk cleared. I do have some other WIPs in the offing, but they're longish and likely not to be quick writes.

Not a lot else going on. Just wanted to check in. *waves*

The one flaw is that neither Sam nor Basti nor Digger is a bass--they're all tenors, really--so it almost sounds like they had to slow Sam's voice down to get the pitch Bobby McFarrin could hit just by speaking. It's still wonderfully bouncy fun. :D

LJ-versary!

For once I actually caught it--and good timing, too, because today marks fifteen years that I've been on LJ. (Where has the time gone?!) Been a lot of stories and joys and tears gone into these digital pages in that time... and I'm so grateful for the friendships I've made here.

I may or may not have a mathom to post later in the week--depends on how far I get on my current WIPs and how much time I need to spend on work and taxes. In the meantime, here's my latest, On a Sting and a Prayer (The Saint/Green Hornet).

Love to you all. *hugsabout*
