Seven Questions meme

I've just dug myself out from under a pile of work and have lots of fic and RL stuff to catch up on, so I can't promise to keep the meme going by coming up with questions for commenters. But I did want to post my answers to the questions
auntmo9 asked me.
1)Besides the Bible, what book changed your life/view of things profoundly?
Oh, man, the list goes ever on and on, especially considering how very much I loved most of what I read in grad school. The Chronicles of Narnia. Tolkien’s Middle-earth books, both the three canon works and the ones Christopher edited that I’ve read (especially Morgoth’s Ring). Mere Christianity. Orthodoxy. Just about everything by Bernard of Clairvaux that I’ve read. The four poems from MS Cotton Nero A.x. Epistle on the Mixed Life by Walter Hilton. The Journey of the Mind to God and Retracing the Arts to Theology by Bonaventure. The Summa Theologica. Bede’s Commentary on the Catholic Epistles (which I need to go back and finish one of these days). And that’s only a partial list of books—if I tried to add essays, I’d be here even longer!
I have to note that I don’t necessarily agree with everything in the theological works that I’ve listed. But a lot of them resonated on a deep level and either got me thinking or confirmed the way I’d thought about/read Scripture all along, and they all were deeply, deeply refreshing to me at times when I needed that refreshment desperately. So yeah, I’d call those life-changers, maybe even life-savers.
2)Using any past or current players, put together you fantasy Cardinals team.
Hrm. I might come back and amend this once I’ve had a chance to look at positions, but I can list some names:
Ozzie Smith
Albert Pujols
Yadier Molina
Jim Edmonds
David Eckstein
Scott Rolen
Chris Carpenter
Adam Wainwright
Lou Brock
Bob Gibson
Dizzy Dean
Rogers Hornsby
So Taguchi
ETA: Stan Musial! I knew I was forgetting someone! Thanks, Mo!
3)If you could record a song with the Monkees, go on a quest with the Fellowship of the Ring, or hunting with Sam and Dean, which would you choose.
Oy. Can I cheat and drag the Winchesters and the Monkees with me into Middle-earth?
4)When you are watching your favorite show on TV, what is your favorite snack to have handy?
Honestly, I typically have my hands busy doing other things if I’m just sitting around with a DVD in that I know well, like sewing or crochet. But as far as snack food goes, it really depends on what kind of kick I’m on. Popcorn, pretzels, and Chex Mix are up there.
5)What was your first job?
Miniature golf counter attendant at a family fun center, my last summer of undergrad. It was boring—doubly so because I was forbidden from doing anything not work-related during my 12 pm – 6 pm shift, which typically consisted of finding things to do for two hours and twiddling my thumbs for four because very few people wanted to play golf during the hottest part of the day. Everyone else had the option of “testing” the video games, but since I was tied to the desk... yeah. Made some friends, but I was not sorry to leave.
6)If you could visit any fictional spot for a vacation, what would it be?
Rivendell. Or maybe Cair Paravel.
7)Time travel is possible. Where and when would you go to 'visit' and experience that time?
My fictional alter ego is a semi-professional time traveler. :D I have a pretty long list—various points in the Middle Ages, the Old West, the 1940s. But I don’t think I’d want to live very long without modern amenities like air conditioning and indoor plumbing or without access to modern medicine.

Date: 2012-04-04 02:58 pm (UTC)2. Who would you rather travel with, The Who or Doctor Who?
3. What prompted you to start writing superhero AUs?
4. What one cancelled TV show would you put back on the air?
5. What five fictional characters would you invite over for supper?
6. Which car would you rather own, a '66 GTO or a '67 Impala?
7. Sometimes people have similar experiences, even if the details differ. What's one funny story from RL that you can tell but you think no one else on your friends list can match?

Date: 2012-04-04 12:12 pm (UTC)1) That's a great list. I haven't read all of them, but quite a few and they have had a similar impact on me.
2) Great list, though one question: No Stan?
3) Yes, but only if you take me with you.
4) Oh, Chex Mix...haven't had that in awhile *ponders making some*
5) Ugh...yeah, no fun being tied to a desk with nothing to do. To bad they didn't at least let you read!
6) Again, can I go, too?
7) Obviously, I was interested in the 40s, too...the others sound great as well! And I would only visit myself, wouldn't want to live there!

Date: 2012-04-04 02:41 pm (UTC)5) Seriously. No reading, no puzzle books, no Internet surfing, nada. The owners wouldn't even let their daughter do her homework when she was on the clock. Complete culture shock for me, coming from a college town where everyone pretty much *expected* students to do their homework during downtimes at work!
