Have a fandom meme.
My answers here are going to depend pretty heavily on how terms are defined. :D
First TV show I had self-insertion fantasies about:
Honestly, I don’t remember; we used to pretend we were Care Bears and Star Fleet officers all the time in elementary school. The first self-insert I remember trying to write was “Hercule Poirot Comes to My House” (yes, that was the title), and it didn’t go so well because Poirot’s hard for me to write now, never mind when I was still in third or fourth grade.
If you include non-scripted shows, though, the answer’s probably the Olympics. I’m told that I was so excited over the ’84 Olympics that I once organized (or at least tried to?) the other kids on the playground into a parade. Hey, I was three years old....
First fandom in which I interacted (online and in person) with other fans:
In person, probably Star Trek: TOS, followed by various ’80s shows and book fandoms. Online, Wishbone (under a different nic), then The Monkees.
Pairing in the first slash fanfiction I read:
I honestly don’t remember. I tend to knowingly read slash only when that element’s really secondary and easily skipped over.
First fanfiction I read that made me think, 'YES, this is exactly the kind of fanfiction I'd like to write...':
I’d been writing fic for myself for a long time before I ever encountered online fandom and thereby the phenomenon of fanfiction. But in surfing around for Monkees fansites, I came across dobolina*’s Monkees page (long ago abandoned) and an archive with a whole slew of fics by various authors... including a series called Power Monkees by one
jennytork. I. Was. Hooked.
Pairing in the first fanfiction I wrote:
Well, my first fics were all gen. Probably the first fic I wrote that had a pairing in it was Jack/Sarah in a Newsies fix-it fic (written before I’d seen the end of the movie—we were watching it in choir; that one’s never going to see the light of day online). The first one I remember writing with specific focus on the pairing was Micky/OFC.
First OTP:
I think probably Aragorn/Arwen, Sam/Rosie, and Faramir/Éowyn.
First fannish friend I met in person:
That I knew online first? It might have been
kisaoda and
_lost_at_sea_ back in ’05; later that year, I introduced myself to
febobe online before meeting her at a conference and became LJ friends with her afterward. The fandom friend I’ve known online longest and have met in person is Harley from Sidewalkchalk, which was back in the bad old days of eGroups; she came to visit in ’09. The only RL friend with whom I've also been online fandom friends is
darkravenette.
First character I formally roleplayed:
I don’t do roleplay per se, but as I said, we used to “pretend Star Trek” and “pretend Care Bears” and so on all the time in elementary school, so... maybe Spock.

Date: 2012-02-26 10:06 pm (UTC)I've been accused of coercing my cousins and sisters into participating in various makeshifts family Christmas pageants over the years, of which there may be photographic evidence. I do recall my parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents enjoying it. At Christmastime, my sisters and cousins still won't let me come anywhere near them if I have anything that looks like a costume, script or more importantly,a halo.
