ramblin_rosie... but I feel like revisiting a few of the military-themed pieces I've written in years past:
Over There -- Paying a visit to the troops before they sail, a leader gets a glimpse of what makes his country great. (You'll have to figure out the fandom yourself.)
Leithian -- We know what happened to Tolkien at the end of WWI, but what happened to the Eldar? (LOTR, sequel of sorts to Der Erlkönig and therefore AU, but you don't have to read the other first; these characters also show up again in Gwaith i Innas Lain: Quenta Ambarmetto.)
There and Back Again: The Fellowship Goes to Stalag 13 -- A funny thing happened on the way through the mines, and WWII will never be the same.... (Hogan's Heroes/Lord of the Rings crossover with special guest appearances by certain characters from Newsies and cameos by certain other key figures)
The Scourge -- Different wars. Different commanders. Same ideal. (Another one you'll have to figure out for yourself.)
Valor Remembered -- Ronon finally finds an Earth tradition he understands. (SGA)
Missus Est -- You think John Sheppard's job is hard? Meet Azariah. (SGA)
Semper Fi -- Ever Faithful, the motto of the USMC. But when CPL Dean Winchester of Echo 2/1 is critically wounded in Iraq while Sam is at Stanford and John is missing, the question becomes... faithful to what? (SPN AU)
Old Soldiers Never Die -- Purgatory's not the only untapped repository of souls out there. And this one might just change the whole ballgame. (SPN AU)
Hug a veteran if you get the chance! Remember, the USA is the home of the free because of the brave.
