So as some of you know, I've been thinking about trying to write for television, probably on a "genre" show of some kind. And with that kind of thinking comes a pondering of what networks are worth my time as employers.
SyFy used to be the go-to network for sci-fi/fantasy programming, but their quality had declined in recent years, and the way they handled the cancellation of SGA and green-lighting of SGU made me hesitant to consider working for them. But consider it I did... until they badly mishandled SGU and announced its cancellation on Twitter before the actors--and, apparently, even the writers/executive producers--had been informed. Strike three, yer out.
Another network that I've been puzzling over is The CW. Granted, this is the network that plays up such trash as Gossip Girl and The Vampire Diaries, but I do like a good number of their actors and was wondering whether it might be possible for even a prude like me to fit there. Until they postponed the mid-season premieres of both Smallville and Supernatural in favor of reruns of Nikita and The Vampire Diaries and announced it the day before the eps were scheduled to air. I still can't think of a valid reason for doing that short of a national emergency (and even then the reruns should still have been SV and SPN).

At this rate, I'm going to be looking at a webseries, where network idiocy doesn't matter....

Edited to add appropriate music.

Just saw the news myself. Really, the anticipation of tomorrow was all that was getting me through this awful day. And now....-sigh-

-hugs back-

I was at first very angry about the whole thing, as you can see by my post lol, but now, I've entered the stage of disappointment. Everyone was hype-ing tomorrow's episode...and now all will be lost as we wait 8 weeks instead of 7.

On the web you can do what you want (for the most part). And tweeting the cancellation of SGU was such a bad thing to do that it's no wonder you don't want to work with Syfy.
