Not directed at anyone particularly, but prompted (sort of) by a couple of posts on
fanficrants: for anybody who needs help picturing travel times in the US in general and in Texas in particular, I offer this bit of anonymous rhyme that, I can attest from long experience, is still true even in the age of the automobile and the interstate highway system and 70-mph speed limits between towns:
