Here we are, another year come and gone...

First off, happy belated birthday to Mum, SS, Obelia Medusa, Davy Jones, and Mike Nesmith!

It's been quite the year. Lots of headaches, lots of heartaches, lots of little joys and major triumphs. A busy year, but not hugely news-worthy... not great, not terrible, but good on balance. Just spent a few minutes skimming through my archives and found the to-do list for the year that I posted back in January; apart from the things health prevented me from doing, I got them all done. I'm ABD, not quite half done with the first (really rough) draft of my dissertation, and well on my way to better health and a real job that I enjoy. I have a new fandom and some new friends and more writing projects than I can shake a stick at. I've started reading some amazing books that I ought to go back and finish when I have the time. I still don't make it to church as often as I'd like, but I do have Bible study, and oh, such rich spiritual food I'm finding in my readings....

The Lord is good to me,
And so I thank the Lord
For giving me the things I need:
The sun and the rain and the appleseed.
Yes, He's been good to me.

I'm really looking forward to the next year. Sure, politics at all levels promise to be headache-inducing, and a number of my good friends will be graduating with me and moving on to bigger and better things; but I will be done with school and have time and money to spend on the things I love, and I *might* be able to get a dog, so--for the moment, anyway--I'm content.
