Comment and I'll give you a letter. Then you come up with 10 words that begin with that letter, and explain what they mean to you.

My challenge letter is U, without a dictionary.

Umbrella, because I need it more often than not these days.
University, where I've spent the last nine years of my life.
Ukelele, the first stringed instrument I tried to play. It had plastic strings, and I don't remember if I did any more than plunk away randomly on it.
Uglification, because I just re-watched Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
Umber, a word that reminds me of Bob Ross (God rest his soul).
Umbrage, something I try not to take often.
Ugh, what I frequently say upon having to get out of bed.
Uxorious, a word Milton used to describe such characters as Adam, Samson, and Solomon.
Urban, something I definitely am not.
Underhill--well, that should be obvious!

1.Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite lyric to your current favorite song. Or your favorite kind of sandwich. Something random. Whatever you like.
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.

1. Assuming you could meet any named character from the LotR book, who would it be? Oh, what a hard choice! If I have to pick just one, I guess I'd pick Elrond.
2. What would you ask them? Can I come live in Imladris?
3. What possession would you most miss if you lost everything? Probably my computer, since it has so many of my documents on it. Lots of my things are special to me, but even the heirlooms are things I could live without; but all my years of writing and research... that would be the hardest loss of all.
4. What is your favorite flower? Bluebonnets! There are a lot of flowers that I like, but bluebonnets are my very favorite.
5. Who is the last person you sent a letter or card to by snail mail? My aunt for my birthday, I think.

You did good on 'U' words. :D

And Elrond is of course a fantastic choice.

I think you got good words. :D And the LOTR meme is difficult to answer I think. I don't know what I'd say. I'd probably would want to meet Merry as he is my favourite character in both book and movie.

N, of course. Let's see:

N for newsaholic. I used to devour news like others drink in the air. I don't so much any more, but I can still get the urge to buy a bunch of newspaper and sit down reading news the "tactile" way. I still try to at least catch the main TV news each day if I'm home though.
N for Norwegian rock music. Gotta love it. :)
N for how many of these do I need, anyway? Okay: N for New York. Not that I've been there, but i'd like to.
N for Norwegian, as in the language and the airline.
N for the 'net. I've been online one way or other since 1996 and it's become a irreplacable part of my everyday life.
N for Never. There isn't a never. Everything is possible. ;)

So, for the questions.
1. I could ramble about this one for a long time, but suffice to say it's the being able to be of service to people and help them. It's a new side to myself that I didn't know I had to this extent before I started at the hospital.
2. Deifne know, lol. I only speak Norwegian and English. I understand and can "talk" Swedish and Danish as they are so alike Norwegian. I am trying to learn Dutch, but it's slow going. I don't take any classes or such, though. But I have a book.
3. Again with definition. ;) I don't consider anything else but those my fandoms. I like Harry Potter and House, but they're not fandoms. I don't write or read fics related to them, I don't watch the show/read the book/see the movies over and over and over. I also like other TV series and shows but nothing has touched me the way LOTR and SG-1 has.
4. Oh, dear. Okay... I've been in many of the European countries. Some many times, some a couple of times and some just once. I've never been outside Europe, but I'd love to. My parents had a small one-bus company in the 80s so I travelled some with them.
5. Italy, but I've only been there twice - in 1981 and now this spring. There are aspects of many countries I love, but Italy will be a favourite. Scotland, some parts of England, the Netherlands as well. It's easier to say where I haven't been, lol.
