It's time for Name That Tune!

(Because I'm trying to stay awake, that's why.)
This may turn out slightly different than usual because I'm using LAUNCHcast and not MP3s... I'll use the first 25 songs I know (and that have lyrics) and try to pick parts that aren't *too* obvious on the ones I think most people will know but not too obscure on ones that might be hard. And you don't necessarily have to guess the artist I heard doing a cover; you can give the original artist.
Step 1: Put your media player on random.
Step 2: Pick your favorite lines from the first 25 songs that play.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song the lines come from.
Step 4: Cross out the songs when someone guesses correctly and give them credit.
1. Now in her child-like eyes / You see the beauty there, you know it was always there, / And you need no longer wear a disguise.
missjean
2. I think I love you, / But I wanna know for sure. / So come on, hold me tight. / I love you. Mum's the Word
3. Baby, don't you know I love you so? / Can't you feel it when we touch? / I will never, never let you go; / I love you oh so much.
4. I'm gonna wait till the stars come out, / See them twinkle in your eyes. Mum's the Word
5. The way you stole my heart, / You know you could have been a crook; / And baby, you're so smart, / You know you could have been a schoolbook. Mum's the Word
6. Just one look at you, my heart grew tipsy in me; / You and you alone bring out the gypsy in me!
7. Come, come, come, come, / Come into my heart, / Come tell me, darlin', / We will never part.
8. Yesterday, and days before, / Sun is cold and rain is hot, / I know; been that way for all my time. Mum's the Word
9. We were made to love and be loved, / But the price this world demands / Will cost you far too much.
10. Ol' Strauss discovered waltzin', / The handy man found the blues, / Then Haley came along with a rockin' song; / Crazy, man, crazy, crazy news!
11. ... When she smiles up soft and gentle / With a trace of misty mornin' / And the promise of tomorrow in her eyes.... Mum's the Word
12. We'll be falling in love to the rhythm of a steel drum band....
desyhand
13. Said He'd be a teacher, / He'd teach His children right; / Said He'd be a warrior, / He'd help His children fight.
14. I'm through with romance, / I'm through with love. / I'm through with countin' / The stars above. Mum's the Word
15. In and out of my life / You come and you go, / You leave just your picture behind, / And I've kissed it a thousand times. Mum's the Word
16. Baby, if I've made you mad, / Something I might have said, / Please forget my past; / The future looks bright ahead.
17. I am reaching for the highest goal / That I might receive the prize. / Pressing onward, pushing every hind'rance aside, / Out of my way....
eruditelimpet
18. Throw out a rope, and I'll pull you in, / Give you hope, and be your only boyfriend. Mum's the Word
19. In your voice I hear a choir of carousels, / But am I ever gonna hear my wedding bells? Mum's the Word
20. So why on earth should I moan, / 'Cause when I get you alone, / You know I feel all right.
missjean
21. Now everybody clap your hands, / Give yourself a chance; / You got soul, and everybody knows....
22. I wrote my Congressman, and he said (quote): / "I'd like to help you, son, but you're too young to vote." Mum's the Word
23. Baby, baby, / You bring much joy within; / Don't let this feeling end, / Let it go on and on and on!
24. My little baby sister can do it with me; / It's easier than learning your ABCs! Mum's the Word
25. Looks like nothing's gonna change; / Everything still remains the same. / I can't do what ten people tell me to do, / So I guess I'll remain the same. Mum's the Word
And a bonus:
26. I can tell my sister by the flowers in her eyes....
Extra points for this one (technically out of order, but I want to see if anyone can get it):
27. *brrrring!* Mum's the Word
Wow... that took longer than I meant it to.
Some fun instrumentals worked their way in while I was doing this--Count Basie's "Orange Sherbet" and one version of "The Entertainer" from The Sting, among others. :) (The latter almost makes me want to either learn piano or get a new mouthpiece for my clarinet and start playing again.)
EDIT: I'm just listing credits right now; I'll give the full answer list in another post in a day or two.
