Like I was saying...
Dec. 6th, 2013 01:01 amInktense pencils are spiffy.
I was concerned about whether the means of drawing Celtic knots I'd been using (draw in pencil, outline in Zig pen, erase pencil lines, color) would still work with the watercolor or whether the water would cause the lines to bleed. So I decided to draw two practice knots, one my usual way and one using a General's Layout pencil. Using three pencils in the same families as the colors I want to use in my final pieces but not ones I'll want to use much, I colored in the knots fairly heavily and then got to work adding water to dissolve the pigment.
Oh.
My.
Word.
The water made *such* a difference, I had to stop after the first knot to take a before-and-after picture:
( image behind a cut because potentially big )
The verdict, incidentally, is that the water doesn't smear either the Layout pencil or the Zig pen, so I think I'll stick with the pen.
