"No man can be rich who cries fearfully and considers himself to be poor."--Boethius, The Consolation of Philosophy

The passage is primarily about the insatiability of greed, but that quote is also class warfare and identity politics in a nutshell. And it wouldn't surprise me at all to find somewhere in CSL's writings that he had this passage in mind when writing about the Dwarfs in The Last Battle.
