*looks for something to break*
Jun. 7th, 2007 04:48 pmOkay, so over the weekend, my thermostat starts acting up. I inform the manager. He says he's replaced the battery (which seems to have actually done the job) and he'll replace the whole thermostat soon. "Soon" translates into this morning, as I discover when I come home from work.
But this thermostat doesn't work AT ALL. Or rather, it doesn't register the real temperature and will allow the A/C to run for maybe ten minutes before it says "FREEZING COLD OH NOES!" and shuts off.
And when I say freezing cold, I mean below 30 F. At least, that's what the manual says "LO" is supposed to mean. (It also says that the only thing to do when it continually says "LO" is to chuck it and buy a new one.)
I email the manager. He doesn't answer.
Meanwhile, the real temperature is probably approaching 80, despite my having all the fans on--current outside temp is 93. I call the customer service number, wait on hold until I'm allowed to leave a message, leave said message, and wait.
And wait.
And take the batteries out of the thermostat because I'm sick of hitting Reset every ten minutes.
And go to see if the manager's in his office--he's not, but he has read my email. I start to miss our old managers very much.
And go home and wait.
Which brings us to now. No calls, no visits. And if I don't get some help PRONTO, I'm going to have to find someplace else to spend the night so I don't roast.
ARGH.
Think I'll try putting the batteries back in. MAYBE it will work now.
EDIT: Put the batteries in, it went straight to "LO." Hit Reset and tricked it into running for all of NINE minutes. Hit Reset again and emailed the manager with the high priority flag set.
*snarls*
EDIT #2: The manager has redeemed himself--had another thermostat on hand, and THIS one WORKS!
... And it had gotten up to 87 in here, at least according to the thermostat. :( Cooling rapidly--it's down to 85 after just a few minutes--but still. :(
