... because for some strange reason, the DSL doesn't work at the new place. Tech comes out tomorrow afternoon to check the line in person and figure out what's going on. But I figured I should at least say hey, so I'm on a campus computer. I've caught up on news-y posts and will catch up on fic once DSL is working.
New place is not as shiny-new and huge as I'd pictured, but it is still bigger and nicer than the old place, and the walls aren't threatening to come crumbling down (discovered Monday that there was another big crack from the window sill to the floor!). And we've had to get creative on where to put certain things, but I think in the end it will work very well for me. Still have lots of unpacking to do before I can even think about hanging pictures.

Aww, I'm sorry the new hobbit hole isn't as nice as it could be! Here's hoping that DSL deigns to return and your new home turns cozy and comfy soon. How long are you planning to live there!

It's still nicer than the old place, and that's the main thing. :) Lots of morning sun, room for several plants outside, and plenty of places to hang bird feeders! In fact, we hung up an empty hummingbird feeder just to make sure it would work, and this morning as I was leaving, a blackchin flew up, looked at the feeder, looked pointedly at me, and flew off. :D I called after it, "I'll have something for you tonight!"
How long? Well, it depends on what happens in the next year or so, but I'd like to stay a couple of years at least. Moving's such a pain.

That's the thing with new places. Its when you move in you see the real thing. I hope you find some good solutions.

I'm sure we will. My parents helped me get a good start on settling in, and I have friends who can help me find clever solutions. :)
