There are only eighteen states that do have an E in the name:

Connecticut
Delaware
Georgia
Kentucky
Maine
Massachucetts
Minnesota
Nebraska
Nevada
New Hampshire
New Jersey
New Mexico
New York
Oregon
Pennsylvania
Rhode Island
Tennessee
Texas
Vermont
West Virginia

However, of those, half are in the Northeast, and another four are further south but still east of the Mississippi.
... regional bias, anyone?

My home state- California- doesn't have an E. And I lived in another that doesn't- Hawaii.

And Washington is nearby, and I've been to Alaska, and Arizona, and...
